How to create a New User Name

We are going to discuss about the creation of a new user account, and the New features that are included in the user properties.

Four New features tab will be created related to Exchange Server, they are

Exchange Genaral – deals with delivery restriction, delivery option and storage limits

Email Address – shows default email address, we can have different Address spaces and set as primary

Exchange Features – deals with client connections like OWA, OMA, POP3 and IMAP4 services

Exchange Advanced - hide a mailbox-enabled user from address lists, downgrade high priority e-mail bound for X.400, assign custom attributes, select protocol settings, and select Internet Locator Service (ILS) settings

Step by step guide to create a New user Name with Mailbox

1. Navigate to Start -> All Programs ->Administrative Tools->Active directory Users and Computers. On the Action Pane Right click and select user to Start a New user creation.

2. On the New object window enter the details and click Next

3. Enter a password for the New user and click Next

4. On the next page u can select server in which you want to have mailbox

5. Below option shows the option to select Mailbox store

6. On the summary page click finish to end the user creation

Following shows the properties of the Newly created user.

By default after creating a user, if you open the properties of user account 4 more additional TAB will be added to the properties, they are

1. Exchange General
2. Email Address
3. Exchange Features
4. Exchange Advanced

Explanation of Exchange General TAB

We can do the following options in this Exchange General TAB

Delivery Restriction – set maximum size of outgoing and incoming messages

Delivery option - set delegating privileges, set a forwarding address

Storage Limits – specify storage Limits for the mailbox enabled user

Explanation of Email Address TAB

Use this tab to view the Email Address, you can have different address space and keep is as primary or secondary Email address for the user

Explanation of Exchange features TAB

We can have enable or disable the following features respect to that of user permission, for example if a user is restricted to allow OWA you can disable the feature

· IMAP4

Explanation of Exchange Advanced TAB

We can do the following options

· Hide the user from global Address list

· We can set mailbox rights

· We can set custom attributes
